Growing
up success has always had a variety of meaning to different individuals around
me. People all have different views on success and different achievements that
they considered to be their success. Success to me comes with multiple
different explanations and meaning because, the definition of success differs from one person
to another. Most people work hard throughout their lives to achieve success. That might mean acquiring an
education, being able to take care of one’s family, achieving a life’s
ambition, or making money, being able to survive on more than minimum wage
without living paycheck to paycheck but also being able to have great financial
stability. Success to me means staying on course to what you want to accomplish
in the near future as well as acquiring them in the most resourceful way
possible.

As a child I often thought that in
order for me to be successful it meant I had to grow up and become all that my
parents wanted me to be, but I later learnt that there are different kinds of
success. There are inner success and outer success. Inner Success is stable and
long-lived resulting in a feeling of fulfilment, inner joy and contentment,
whatever the external circumstances may be. Your inner success may include some
of the following, focusing on personal values, creating a fulfilling life,
following your personal interest, your spiritual discovery and your own
personal growth. On the other hand, your outer success would include things
such as high grades, an increased social popularity, obtaining a college degree
and obtaining for instance sports victories. Outer Success is transitory and
short-lived resulting in a feeling of emptiness or despair once it has passed.

            Some might consider graduating
college and obtaining a degree to be the main source of success but it in fact
is not. The main source of success is WISE CHOICES. When you answer the six
basic questions known to be “(What is my present situation? How would I like my
situation to be? What are my possible choices? What is the likely outcome of
each possible choice? Which choices will I commit myself to doing? And finally,
When and how will I assess my plan?”) I’ve realized that if one can answer those
questions and stick with them then one will be on the right road to success.

In my ninth-grade year of high
school, I made a promise to myself that I would always strive for nothing but the
best and at that age my drive was extremely high and hungry for success but was
I fully understanding of what success was is the question I often questioned
myself. One day in particular I remember rushing home to my begging her to buy
me a planner as I will write down every and any assignments, test, homework,
projects and quizzes. I promised myself that no matter how exhausted I become I
will document everything and notify myself with all dates and submissions and I
would certainly stick through all of them until the year is over. As the school
year went by I noticed my grades at an all time high, there was an “A” in every
class and the joy that it brought me made me already feel successful and the
feeling of that just being the beginning gave me amazing expectations for the
rest of the years to come. I planned and followed through with it and the
outcome was definitely a remarkable one. It showed me that once you put your
mind to something and commit to it then your present situation will certainly turn
out for the better.

            In conclusion success is brought
with multiple different definitions, but my meaning of it is staying on course
to what you want to accomplish in the future as well as acquiring them in the
most resourceful way possible. In other words that may mean acquiring an
education, being able to take care of one’s family, achieving a life’s
ambition, and acquiring great financial stability. The WISE Choice process and
different on course strategies were all created to help individuals prosper and
grow through college and the world carrying them through a path that will
ensure success. It is in fact important though, that one knows that success is
made from hard work and determination. If you have plans to bring forth success
it is important that you follow through with each one.
